19. Professional Sewer Inspector
Most of us spend our whole lives trying to look away from sewers, but some dedicate their lives to giving that great repository of human waste the close look it needs. These are true heroes that walk among us unsung, the people who go where others won’t dare.
Without their diligent work cracked pipes would continue to leak, clogs would continue to back up, and the people above the ground might have to come face to face with their feces once more.
They do all this for somewhere between $35,000 and $60,000 a year, which isn’t nearly enough if you ask me. As the saying goes, it’s a dirty job but someone has got to do it.
