The prickly hedgehog can cost around $300. It’s quite a task to nail the hedgehog’s diet of mealworms, crickets, fruits, and vegetables. It needs a good exercise wheel to keep active, and an expensive enclosure large enough for burrowing.
It will want to stay warm, so it should not be kept anywhere below 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. What’s also costly is thorough dental veterinary examinations including dental cleaning under anesthesia. In general, these creatures are sensitive and do not want to be overhandled.
