18. Green Goods
For those that are unaware of what kind of scam this is, let us explain. Green goods were a scheme that was popular in the United States around the 19th century, where people were tricked into paying for counterfeit money.
Many scammers claim that this counterfeit money was for sale, and promised that it was genuine. Of course, this was a lie. Many times victims would respond to the postings and be shown genuine bags or counterfeit money.
Once the victim checked out the money, they would be distracted, and scammers would switch bags of money before they noticed. Oftentimes, these bags would be replaced with worthless items, shredded paper, or fake money.
