#14 Windshield Wipers by Mary Anderson
Mary Anderson came up with this essential car accessory that is a staple in all car models nowadays, even though she didn’t drive a car herself!
Anderson made the critical observation while riding in a car in New York on a particularly snowy day. She noticed the car driver had to do exceptional stunts to clean off the snow every few minutes.
It got Anderson wondering if there was some blade thing that could wipe the snow off without the driver sticking out his head.
As a result, she invented a lever operated by the driver, and the device was finally patented in the year 1903.
