#6 Royal Mausoleum – Shah Jahan ($800M)
The Mughal emperors were known for their larger than life charisma and character, which often reflected in their habits of gifting. Shah Jahan, the fifth and perhaps the most successful Mughal emperor reigned supreme in the 17th century and took the empire to new heights.
Besides being an able king, Shah Jahan was a great admirer of architecture. One of his most admirable creations is the Taj Mahal, a royal mausoleum that he built for commemorating his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Legend has it that it cost over $800 million in today’s money to build this marvellous piece of architecture.
