#18 The Svalbard Seed Vault, Norway
It turns out doomsday prep isn’t just a hobby of some civilians, but the Government does it too!
Commonly called the Doomsday Vault, this safe space in Norway stores duplicates of almost every seed held in gene banks.
In the event of a global catastrophe, the seed vault safeguards all the seeds.
So, once the catastrophe dies down, humanity can replant. Since the material inside is so sensitive, the vault is guarded using extreme precautions.
There are no private visits or possible viewings. The most you’ll see of the vault is the pictures of the outside.
Even if you’re a hardcore environmentalist, you’re probably not going to see the hundreds of seeds inside.
